See an early K-2SO and more
Now that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is out in theaters for most of the world to see, Lucasfilm is putting back the curtain on the making of the first spin-off film. The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a book collecting concept images from throughout development, is now available, making it easy for fans to page through and see how characters like Jyn Erso and K-2SO changed over the making of the film.
To mark the release, EW is debuting some exclusive images from inside the book, including a look at the original line-up of rebels and the many iterations the reprogrammed Imperial droid went through before becoming the matter-of-fact robot we know today.
Take a look at just a few of the images from The Art of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story below, and head here for a full rundown of EW’s Rogue One coverage.

Before the rebel lineup that made it into the film, artist Christian Alzmann toyed with the idea of including alien members, including Senna, a “Chewie type,” and Lunka, “something that could skitter into an air duct, almost like a little thief.”
